Fontfabric - Create.

In 2020 Fontfabric asked Sebastian to interpret some of the fonts from their collection. The resulting 3 films are a exploration into the fonts Kare, Kvant and BLOU.

Kvant:
Kvant features sharp edges and looks almost like it was made to be stacked, this got me thinking about building blocks which in turn lead to the idea of the building blocks of life: DNA. The journey to the final DNA Helix starts organic with a rounded shape coming out of a organic tunnel, representing birth, and then transforms into the more rigid shapes for the final shot.

Kare:
The font Kare features rounded elegant shapes which got me thinking about the idea of glass blowing and liquid metal forming. Combining the look/movement of these processes I came to the visuals used in the interpretation for Kare.

BLOU:
Blou is very blocky and all shapes fit initially within cube. This idea led Sebastian to think of reverse sculping/cutting away shapes to reveal the font. The colourfully changing panels emphasize the cuts and adds interest to the process.
